Opening
Every year the Health Business Week has a grand opening at an external location. The annual theme is the central connection between all the presentations. Different inspiring speakers will talk about it from their various perspectives. It is the best visited event where students, companies and visitees are present! They all receive a nice goodiebag and after the program there is a network drink with delicious appetizers. Some of the speakers will join the network drink, therefore all students were able to get to know them even further. It is a great way to start the Health Business Week! |
Company diner
The Company Dinner will take place right after the grand opening. It is the first opportunity for the students to network with different companies. Students are selected by the companies based on their resume. Sometimes there is a table change, so the students can have the opportunity to speak with more than one company. |
Symposium and debate
Most activities during the Health Business Week are provided by the participating companies. But in addition to the opening, the committee every year organizes a symposium and healthcare debate. The theme of both events is related to the annual theme. During the symposium different speakers will talk about the theme from their point of view. During the healthcare debate there are typically three speakers representing different perspectives on a specific issue, with one supervisor moderating the discussion. At the end the day supervisor may ask the audience for questions. After both the symposium and the debate, the event will be finished with a network drink. |
Speed interviews
The Health Business Week contains two moments of speed interviews. During a speed interview, students have the chance to engage in a 10-minute, one-on-one or one-on-two conversation with representatives from a company. A few weeks before the Health Business Week students sent their resume to the company in which they are interested in. The students that got selected by the companies, will be invited to attend the speed interviews This allows them to find their next internship or even a new job! |
Workshops and Company Presentations
During the two weeks of our Health Business Week program many workshops and presentations of the participating companies take place. During the company presentations you will get an impression of what the companies do. Most of the time employees will tell how they experience working there. It gives you the opportunity to see which different types of companies there are in the health care sector and you can also discover what you are most interested in. When a company really appeals you, it is also possible to participate in a workshop. During a workshop the company will give a small presentation about their main work activities and will then involve you in a dynamic and interesting case, which is representative of something that could really have happened within the company. In this case you can get to know the company even better and discover if it fits your expectations. |
Informal recruitment
Informal recruitment gives the opportunity to the students and companies to network with each other in a different setting. Past years recruitment activities were, for example, a game pool, golfing, jeu de boules and a high tea. Students and companies had the opportunity to be active while having a chat about potential future job opportunities. All in all, a fun and useful experience for every participant! |
Business Cases
With the business cases students need to be selected on the basis of their resume and the assignment is usually more complex than in an workshop. In a small group of about 15 people you will get to learn something about the work activities of the attending company. Generally, the company will first introduce themselves and teach you some background information that is necessary in order to lead the assignment in the right direction. The assignment is commonly divided in smaller subgroups and in the end the findings will be discussed plenary. All in all, if you were to be selected for a business case you will learn a lot about the company and their presented case. |
Network drinks
The networking drink is the ideal time for students to catch up with each other in an informal way while enjoying a snack and a drink. There is also the possibility to start a conversation with participating companies. In this way the companies get to know the students better and potentially contact details can be exchanged. |
Closing Party
Every year, the Health Business Week ends with a closing drink/party for all students who participated. Over a drink, the past weeks can be discussed. Especially for the committee, this is a great moment to celebrate the success of the HBW. Everyone has a good time, people talk a lot, play games and even dance a bit. In conclusion, a successful end of the Health Business Week! |
